Buckle names new executive as quarterly sales plunge

Fashion retailer Buckle saw net sales decline 8 per cent year over year to $104.3 million for the five-week month ended April 6.

Moreover, comparable store net sales for stores open at least one year slid 9.4 per cent.

For the nine weeks to April 6, the company’s net sales tumbled 6.8 per cent to $182.6 million while comparable store net sales sank 10.3 per cent.

Meanwhile, the company appointed Stacey M Manary as VP of women’s merchandising, effective April 1.

Prior to the appointment, Manary served as director of women’s denim merchandising and operations.

“Stacey has been a valuable member of our women’s merchandising team for nearly 29 years. She has made an incredible impact on our women’s product over the years and especially our women’s denim,” Buckle president and CEO Dennis H Nelson said.
