British chocolatier Chococo has made its trans-Atlantic foray with the opening of two chocolate houses in New York City.

The first location will open on the Upper East Side, followed by a flagship on Madison Avenue opening next month.

Founded in 2002 by husband-and-wife team Claire and Andy Burnet, Chococo is known for its direct-trade, single-origin chocolate sourced from Ecuador, Colombia, and Madagascar.

The Upper East Side store will offer curated selection boxes, fresh truffles, single-origin bars, and a loose chocolate counter designed for personalized gifting. It will also feature a rotating seasonal collection, including signature couvertures.

Meanwhile, the 1220sqft flagship at 500 Madison Avenue will offer the full ‘Chocolate House’ experience, including a tasting session where guests can sample more than 100 chocolate varieties, as well as a chocolate-making workshop.

Both New York locations will also operate a specialty cafe in partnership with Abbotsford Road Coffee, alongside artisan pastries from Smor and gelato from Il Laboratorio del Gelato.

Claire Burnet, co-founder of Chococo, said launching in New York felt like a “perfect place to begin”.

“Our chocolate houses are an invitation to experience what chocolate can be when craftsmanship and sourcing are never compromised,” she said.

“That’s what Chococo has always stood for. Chocolate inspires us every day, and we’re ready to share that with New York.”

Chococo’s full range, including seasonal gift assortments and signature hot chocolate, will also be available for nationwide shipping.
