Walmart plans to remodel more than 650 stores this year as the retail giant ramps up investment in its network across the US.

The company’s investment for this year includes more than 650 scheduled remodels to supercenters and neighborhood markets, as well as about 20 new openings.

Several new stores have opened so far this year, including Walmart Supercenters in California and Florida and a Walmart Neighborhood Market in Florida.

Key features of the updates stores include wider aisles, eye-catching displays, expanded assortments and pickup and delivery services, revamped pharmacies, new digital touchpoints, and refreshed interiors and exteriors.

In addition, many neighborhood markets will have expanded deli and hot bar selections, improved lighting, pharmacy delivery options, and upgraded areas for fulfilling online orders.

The company said the new stores and remodels will provide construction jobs during development, as well as long-term roles in retail, pharmacy, and store leadership.

“We continue to deliver on the commitment we made two years ago because we know our stores matter to customers, to communities, and to the future of retail,” Walmart said.

“Our network of stores is one of our greatest strengths, and we are leveraging it to bring customers the speed, value, and service they expect,” it added.

The company will also use its app to further improve the in-store customer experience, including faster navigation, built-in savings tools, seamless checkout, and integrated everyday services such as reorder, refill, and scheduled appointments.

Earlier this week, Walmart revealed the redesign of its flagship private brand, Great Value, a move it said to reinforce its commitment to delivering high-quality products at affordable prices.
