Lycra, a manufacturer of sustainable fiber and technology solutions for the clothing industry, showcased its eco-made fiber at Kingpins Amsterdam on April 16-17.
Visitors were invited to view denim samples that contain seed amounts of its renewable elastane. Additionally, the company uses a virtual reality experience to introduce the product’s journey from farm to fiber.
Lycra’s ecomade fiber, which is made from renewable dent corn as a raw material, can reduce the environmental impact of clothing by up to 44 per cent without requiring changes to fabrics, manufacturing methods, or clothing designs.
Arnaud Ruffin, VP of brands and retail of Lycra, said the fabric represents a significant step forward in providing sustainable solutions without compromising on quality.
Lycra collaborates with Diamond Denim in this exhibition to showcase the stretch denim made with ecomade fiber in the “Seven styles for seven days” project.
Orta, a Turkish denim producer, has produced other samples made with the sustainable fiber.
