The North Face has opened a flagship store at 511 Fifth Avenue, its largest retail location globally.

The two-story space, spanning 21,000sqft, is designed around an “above and below the treeline” concept, with a layout aimed to evoke the experience of outdoor exploration.

“Pushing the boundaries of how people experience the outdoors is core to our ethos at The North Face, and our Fifth Avenue flagship is a powerful example of where we are headed as a hub for exploration,” said Dennis Seydel, chief marketing officer, The North Face.

“From marketing to retail, and now our newly launched Power of Nature platform, we are creating immersive experiences that spark emotion, celebrate heritage, and bring the spirit of outdoor adventure right into the heart of Manhattan.”

A 2½-story LED screen serves as the store’s centerpiece, showing expedition footage captured by The North Face athletes, including the debut Expedition Style Approach film.

The ground floor, labeled “below the treeline,” features faceted gray cork walls etched with historic climbing routes and tent-like installations that display both current products and archival pieces.

The upper level, “above the treeline,” uses lighter finishes and stone-based display elements, with a fitting room lounge reflecting the brand’s New York City heritage.

Last month, The North Face and Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen announced their second collaboration, which was launched during Bahnsen’s Fall/Winter 2025 show at Paris Fashion Week.
