Luxury menswear brand Maceoo has acquired WHSmith’s fashion division, including 13 stores across Nevada, Florida, Washington, New Jersey, and New York.

CEO and founder Mehdi Raad said the acquisition builds on a 16-year relationship with WHSmith, as the menswear brand expands into travel retail.

“We’re thrilled for this next stage in our growth that further taps into international travel shoppers,” he said.

Founded in 1792, WHSmith is a British retailer best known for its travel retail business, operating stores in airports, railway stations, hospitals, and motorway service areas worldwide, alongside its UK high street business.

Raad said plans for the acquired stores are still being finalized, with some to remain as multi-brand retailers, while others will be converted into Maceoo boutiques.

The stores will carry Maceoo’s full range of menswear, including leisurewear, dress shirts, tech shirts, polo shirts, blazers, jackets, sweaters, footwear, socks, underwear, and swimwear.

“This will involve major renovations to reflect the brand’s vision of experiential retail, combining fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle,” he said.

Maceeo said renovations are expected to take 12 to 18 months and cost an estimated $17 million.
