Texas-based convenience giant Buc-ee’s plans to open 15 new stores by 2031 as it continues to expand beyond its home market.
Founded in 1982 in Lake Jackson, Texas, Buc-ee’s is known for its cartoonish beaver mascot and operates large-format stores combining fuel, foodservice, and retail. Its stores usually span around 74,000 sqft and feature up to 120 fueling stations.
Among the next openings, Buc-ee’s is scheduled to debut in Benton, Arkansas, and San Marcos, Texas, this August.
Additional locations are planned for Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin next year, while stores in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, South Carolina, and Virginia are in various stages of planning or construction.
The retailer recently entered Arizona with a new location in Goodyear, its first store in both the state and the Southwest, bringing its network to 56 travel centers.
“We could not have picked a better location for our first store in the Grand Canyon State,” Stan Beard, chief executive, Buc-ee’s.
“Perfectly placed for our road-trippers headed out to California or coming in for the destination-rich Phoenix area, Goodyear will be the place to stop.”
Buc-ee’s said construction typically takes between 18 and 24 months once work begins.
