Party City is returning to physical retail, bringing its products into more than 700 Staples stores nationwide and online, with further rollout planned later this year.

The move follows its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing last year, its second in two years, after what it described as an “immensely challenging environment”.

As part of the process, the company sold its intellectual property and assets to Ad Populum.

Joel Weinshanker, CEO, Ad Populum, said working with Staples felt like a “natural fit” from the start.

“Staples stood out immediately, not only for its national footprint, but for its strong connection to the communities we have both been part of for years,” he said.

Under the Staples partnership, customers will be able to shop a range of party supplies, including decorations, tableware, gift bags, costume accessories and favours, while also accessing personalized products such as invitations, banners and posters through Staples’ print services.

The in-store offer will also include helium-filled latex and foil balloons, available in a range of colours, sizes and designs.

“Staples has always been focused on making things easy for our customers, and our partnership with Party City takes that promise into new territory,” said Marshall Warkentin, president, Staples.

“By bringing Party City into Staples stores, we’re expanding what customers can accomplish in one place.”
