Healthcare apparel company Kindthread has opened its first standalone retail store at Westfield Topanga in Los Angeles, shifting from its digital roots into physical.
The store is described as “intentionally edited and uncrowded”, where trained staff guide customers through Kindthread’s designs, including collections from Landau, White Cross, and Beyond Scrubs.
Kindthread says this format focuses on service and product discovery rather than large volumes of inventory on display.
Customers can browse products in person, complete purchases online, access their order history, and receive personalized recommendations across channels. They can also opt to have their orders shipped directly to their homes.
David Sasson, CEO of Kindthread, said the physical store addresses longstanding gaps in how healthcare professionals shop for apparel.
“Healthcare professionals have been underserved by retail for too long, having to pay a premium for a single brand with limited options,” Sasson said.
“We think progress looks different. It looks like walking into a store, seeing real options across multiple collections and price points, and having someone help you find what actually works for your body and your budget.”
Sasson, who previously held leadership roles at fashionr retailer Bonobos, said his experience shaped Kindthread’s approach to physical retail.
“What we took away from Bonobos is that great physical retail starts with the customer experience, not with how much product you can fit on the floor,” he added.
“The store should be a place where someone feels taken care of. Everything else – inventory, fulfillment, logistics – should be invisible.”
