BurgerFi has sold its namesake brand and the Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza and Wings banner for a combined $54 million following its Chapter 11 filing in September.

The company sold Anthony’s assets for $44 million and BurgerFi assets for $10 million to Trew Capital Management, Restaurant Dive reported, citing the company’s filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Both sales had received court approval and closed last month.

Following the purchase, Trew sold the Anthony’s chain to Kuljeet Singh, a franchisee of both the Round Table Pizza and Burger King brands, earlier this month. Trew founder Jeff Crivello confirmed the sale during an interview with Restaurant Business but did not disclose the financial details of the transaction.

Crivello disclosed that a sale of the BurgerFi business is also in the works, and that deal could be announced by the end of this week.

BurgerFi began reviewing strategic options for its business in June after posting a loss of more than $6 million for the first quarter.

The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September, citing a drastic decline in post-pandemic consumer spending, sustained inflation, and increasing food and labor costs.

The BurgerFi chain now has 93 locations, of which 17 are company-owned, while Anthony’s has 51 stores.
