VF Corporation will sell its iconic workwear label Dickies to New York-based brand management firm Bluestar Alliance for $600 million in cash.

The deal, expected to close by the end of this year, aligns with VF’s ongoing strategy to streamline its portfolio and refocus on its core lifestyle and outdoor brands, including The North Face, Vans, and Timberland.

“As I’ve said before, we continuously evaluate our portfolio and this transaction will enable us to bring our net debt level down and will be accretive to our growth on a pro-forma basis,” said VF’s president and CEO, Bracken Darrell, who took the helm in 2023.

Founded in 1922, Dickies has grown from a traditional workwear brand into a global label with locations in 55 countries.

“Since 1922, Dickies has provided hard-wearing, long-lasting and comfortable clothes, cementing its status as a storied brand in performance workwear,” said Joseph Gabbay, CEO, Bluestar Alliance.

“We have followed the brand for many years and have a deep appreciation for its history and legacy, which VF Corporation has successfully begun to rebuild over the past few years.”

Bluestar Alliance, known for acquiring and licensing brands such as Hurley, Bebe, and Brookstone, plans to preserve Dickies’ heritage while expanding its global retail and licensing footprint.
