Global travel retailer Avolta has extended its 12-year contract in travel retail and food and beverage at Miami International Airport (MIA).

Under the extension, Avolta is positioned as a core commercial partner, further reinforcing its long-term presence at one of the US’ busiest international gateways, with retail and dining spanning the airport’s North, Central and South terminals.

Avolta’s travel retail arm, Hudson, as part of the renewed agreement, will revamp nearly 40 retail outlets, including the launch of next-gen store concepts and enhanced digital engagement tools.

The renovation aims to keep pace with evolving passenger expectations and improve operational efficiency, which, according to Avolta’s North American president and CEO Steve Johnson, would strengthen the company’s leadership in travel retail while “enhancing the journey for millions of travelers who pass through MIA each year.”

Global restaurateur HMSHost, a dining subsidiary of Avolta, will transform more than 20 restaurants, bars and grab-and-go outlets across the three terminals.

The revamped dining portfolio will celebrate Miami’s culinary culture with a mix of local concepts, global brands and proprietary formats, fueled by digital solutions to enhance speed, convenience and the passenger experience.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava welcomes this contract extension, citing promising gains for customer experience and significant contribution to MIA’s $9bn modernization program over the next five to 10 years.

“Hudson and HMSHost have been valued partners in delivering the award-winning shopping and dining experiences travelers expect at Miami International Airport,” she said.

“This 12-year contract extension reflects our shared commitment to exceptional customer service, innovation, and quality as we welcome millions of visitors to our community each year.”
