Wendy’s is accelerating its expansion in Mexico through new franchise agreements that will add more than 60 restaurants across the country.

The fast-food chain has partnered with AJ Group and WS Pacific to expand its footprint in key regions, including Mexico City and northern states such as Sinaloa and Durango.

EJ Wunsch, president for international at The Wendy’s Company, said the move support the company’s strategy to accelerate growth across the country.

“The momentum in Mexico underscores why experienced operators see us as a strategic platform for growth,” Wunsch said.

“As we expand with partners like AJ Group and WS Pacific, we are creating new opportunities for franchisees who want to be part of a fast-accelerating, globally recognized brand.”

Under the agreement with AJ Group, Wendy’s plans to open 50 restaurants across Mexico City and the neighboring State of Mexico, Hidalgo, and Morelos. Its first new restaurant in Mexico City is expected to open this year.

According to Wendy’s, AJ Group brings experience in real estate development and restaurant operations, with a portfolio of international food and beverage brands that position it to expand in urban and high-traffic locations.

Separately, the company has signed a franchise agreement with WS Pacific to develop 12 restaurants in the northern states of Sinaloa and Durango. The first location in the region is expected to open by the end of the year.

Carlos Ribas, SVP and MD for the Latin America and Caribbean region at The Wendy’s Company, said partnerships with established franchise operators will help support the brand’s long-term development in the country.

“We look forward to bringing more Wendy’s restaurants to Mexican consumers who appreciate our fresh, high-quality food and welcoming hospitality,” Ribas concluded.
