Walmart is adding meals from Subway restaurants to its Express Delivery service, allowing customers to order freshly prepared food alongside groceries and other essentials in a single transaction.

Starting this month, customers in select US markets can purchase Subway menu items for delivery in as little as 30 minutes through the Walmart app and website.

The service allows shoppers to combine restaurant orders with groceries, household goods, health and wellness products, and other merchandise available through Walmart’s Express Delivery platform.

The launch marks Walmart’s first integration of an in-store restaurant partner into its delivery ecosystem and aims to provide customers with greater convenience by combining multiple shopping needs into a single order.

“The future of retail is about bringing more of customers’ everyday needs into a single, seamless experience,” said Tracy Poulliot, EVP e-commerce and marketing, Walmart US.

“Bringing Subway delivery into the Walmart app is another way we’re using our proximity to customers and scale to make everyday decisions simpler and everyday life a little easier.”

Subway is Walmart’s largest in-store restaurant partner, with approximately 1400 locations operating within Walmart stores across the US. Walmart plans to expand the delivery service to all participating Subway locations by late summer.

“Subway has always been focused on making freshly made, quality meals accessible to customers wherever they are,” added Damien Harmon, president of Subway North America.

“The integration of Subway delivery into the Walmart app and Walmart.com is a natural evolution of our 20-year relationship built on a shared commitment to value, freshness and everyday convenience.”

The initiative reflects the retailer’s continued focus on enhancing convenience through faster fulfilment options.
