Fashion retailer Express has named Brian Atwood as creative director of footwear, in charge of women’s and statement men’s footwear for its group of brands.
Atwood has also teamed with Express to launch his ‘Brian Atwood for Express’ shoe collection, which features Atwood’s characteristic styles of feathery heels and slouchy boots to kick off the autumn season for ladies.
Express, which has 530 stores across the US, is the largest in the EXPR stable of fashion retail brands, along with Bonobos and UpWest.
Since its introduction in 2001, the Brian Atwood collection has been known for its craftsmanship, design and detail, and has been spotted on red carpets from Hollywood to Cannes.
“We wanted to create excitement around our shoe business, seeing as it is our largest demand-driving category in accessories,” said Sara Tervo, executive VP and CMO at Express.
“We knew Brian’s eye for design and industry credibility would elevate the offering and complement the seasonal product assortment. He is a master at designing shoes that create confidence – which is what Express always aims to deliver our customers.”
Brian is also a Council of Fashion Designers of America member, who has received the CDA Swarovski Perry Ellis Award for Best Accessory Design as well as the 2010 Footwear News Designer of the Year award.
The collection, which ranges in price from $68 to $298, offers customers designs constructed of high-quality materials, and its subsequent monthly deliveries contain styles for both men and women.
The collection is available in stores and on the brand’s website.
