Atty McGrath has been appointed CEO of Aldi US, replacing Jason Hart, who will become Group COO of Aldi South’s executive board. This transition will be effective on September 1.
During a 20-year career with the brand, McGrath held several positions, ranging from district manager to, most recently, Aldi’s COO.
“The Aldi US business is on an incredible growth trajectory, and I know the momentum will continue with Atty at the helm,” posted Jason Hart, Global COO of Aldi South Group, on LinkedIn.
During Hart’s tenure of over three decades at the company, Aldi has expanded to more than 1000 stores across 39 states in the region and successfully acquired Southeastern grocers Winn-Dixie and Harveys in 2023.
He will continue his new leadership role as Group COO of Aldi South in Salzburg, Austria, for a minimum three-year term.
Aldi plans to open 800 stores by 2028, with 225 new stores expected to open nationwide this year.
