Walmart will launch its holiday shopping season earlier than usual this year, beginning with its first holiday deals event in early October.
Latriece Watkins, EVP and chief merchandising officer for Walmart US, said the company adjusted its approach and launched holiday deals earlier to best meet shoppers’ needs.
Watkins cited a recent Bankrate study, which found nearly 50 per cent of consumers will start their holiday shopping as early as September
“We know many of our customers are beginning to prepare for their holiday celebrations early,” she added.
“We’ve worked hard to lower prices across our most exciting assortment ever, and we’re thrilled to give customers more of what they want this holiday – more time to prepare and more opportunities to save all season long.”
Walmart’s first holiday deals event will take place from October 8 to 13, offering discounts across various categories, including electronics, home goods, fashion, and toys.
The retailer’s strategy also includes the return of its Thanksgiving meal initiative, leading up to its traditional Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales events later in the season.
