Timberland has opened a new store at American Dream Mall in New Jersey as the brand accelerates its US retail expansion.

The opening forms part of parent company VF Corp’s plan to launch 20 full-price and outlet stores this year as it looks to grow the brand’s direct-to-consumer business.

Three additional locations are set to open in Texas, including stores at Grapevine Mills, Galleria Dallas and Allen Premium Outlets.

VF Corp president and CEO Bracken Darrell said the company’s expansion strategy is already delivering “encouraging” results.

“The outsized productivity shown by our new stores are early proof points of our new operating model working as planned,” Darrell said.

“This brand can become much larger over time, and I’m confident we’re taking the right strategic steps to ensure that happens.”

Founded in 1973, Timberland is known for its outdoor footwear and apparel. The brand was acquired by VF Corp in 2011 and sits alongside labels including The North Face, Vans and Dickies. The brand now operates 11 full-price stores in the country.
