Food and beverage outlets operator SSP Group has named Pat Murray as the new CEO of SSP America, effective immediately.
Murray succeeds Michael Svagdis, who is departing the company to pursue an external opportunity.
Murray began his SSP America career in 2007 as the company’s VP of development and became deputy CEO in 2022.
He was the inaugural board chair of the Airport Restaurant Retail Association and currently holds the vice chair position at ACI World’s associates’ board.
“North America is a hugely important, high-growth market for the Group, and Pat’s exceptional leadership qualities and industry experience make him the ideal person to drive the business forward as we capitalise on the growth opportunities that we see ahead of us,” said Patrick Coveney, SSP Group CEO.
SSP America operates in 53 airports in North America, which serves as a key strategic priority for SSP Group. Its portfolio of licensed cafe brands includes Dunkin’ and Peet’s Coffee in the US as well as Starbucks and Bridgehead Coffee in Canada.
