QSR chain Smoothie King has reported a year-over-year increase of 11 per cent in same-store sales by the end of the second quarter.

The growth was fueled by the hike in number of customers as well as 2 million Smoothie Bowls sold since the launch of the product in April.

The brand also opened 20 new stores in Q2 in Texas, Illinois, Georgia, Florida, and South Dakota, raising the number of new locations opened in this year’s first half to 41. The company planned to add more than 100 stores in 2023.

“Smoothie King’s strategic focus on menu innovation, particularly with the introduction of bowls, has not only expanded options for our valued guests but has also showcased our dedication to meeting their needs and wants,” said Wan Kim, CEO at Smoothie King.

The brand is looking to expand further in new and existing markets in Q3.

Founded in 1973, Smoothie King is a privately held, Dallas-based franchise company with more than 1350 locations worldwide.
