Shake Shack heads to Brazil with first store in São Paulo

The move into Brazil represents the company’s latest regional expansion.

Shake Shack is expanding its Latin American footprint by entering the Brazilian market through a licensing partnership with Bold Hospitality Company.

The move into Brazil marks the company’s latest regional expansion following seven years of operations in Mexico and a planned launch in Panama.

“As we continue to expand across Latin America, Brazil has long stood out as one of our most requested markets,” said Michael Kark, president of global licensing at Shake Shack.

“Its passion for great food, lively culture, and meaningful hospitality makes it a natural fit for Shake Shack, and we’re excited to partner with Bold Hospitality Company to embark on this next chapter of growth.”

Through the partnership, Shake Shack will work with Bold Hospitality Company, a Brazilian holding firm that manages restaurant chains including Outback Steakhouse, Abbraccio, and Aussie across the country.

Shake Shack will partner with local suppliers in Brazil to source menu ingredients. The brand’s entry into the market will feature standard menu items, including the ShackBurger, Chicken Shack, crinkle cut fries, and frozen custard, alongside items developed with local ingredients and flavors.

Pierre Berenstein, CEO of Bold Hospitality Company, noted that introducing Shake Shack to Brazil represents a significant development for the organization, highlighting a shared focus between the two companies on food quality and customer service as the basis for long-term brand growth.

“Our focus is to deliver the authentic Shake Shack experience, from quality ingredients to warm hospitality, while celebrating the flavors, energy and culture that make Brazil unique,” said Mauro Guardabassi, president of Shake Shack Brazil.

Bold Hospitality Company projects its total store network will reach 217 locations across 22 Brazilian states and the Federal District by the end of this year.
