Franchise operator Flynn Group is expanding into the drive-thru coffee market with plans to open 160 7 Brew locations across the US.

The San Francisco-based company, which operates nearly 3000 restaurants across seven franchise brands, said the move was a strategic shift from its traditional focus on established brands.

“7 Brew has tapped into an area of demand that is really quite astounding,” said Greg Flynn, founder, chair and CEO of Flynn Group.

“It’s coffee, but not coffee the way we grew up with Starbucks. It’s coffee-based energy drinks that are exciting and appealing to younger people.”

The 7 Brew brand will join the company’s portfolio, including Applebee’s, Arby’s, Taco Bell, Panera Bread, Pizza Hut, Wendy’s, and Planet Fitness.

As part of the new partnership, Flynn Group is also launching its new Flynn Growth division, which will scale younger brands with strong market potential, to be led by Lauren Leahy, the company’s chief transformation officer.

7 Brew currently operates small, modular drive-thru “stands” that serve espresso-based drinks, teas, energy drinks, sodas, and chillers.

“Together with Flynn Group, we are excited to bring kindness in a cup and a daily jolt of positivity to more communities across the US,” said John Davidson, CEO of 7 Brew.
