Build-A-Bear Workshop is set to open its three-story flagship location in November at Icon Park Orlando in Florida, marking the company’s largest workshop to date.
Partnered with design firm Chute Gerdeman, the multi-level site will introduce several interactive features alongside its standard custom plush manufacturing services.
Including the company’s first appointment-only design facility, designated as the ‘Build-A-Bear Design Studio’, the store also offers a service that pairs individual visitors with staff consultants to design customized plush items.
Additional facilities at the location include an on-site bakeshop serving food items, an outdoor terrace, and dedicated areas for private events and gatherings.
The store will also introduce an expanded customization hub titled the ‘Personalize Me’ station, enabling shoppers to add embroidery, screen printing, and patches to products and apparel.
Standard Workshop services, including plush selection, stuffing, and apparel customization, will occupy the ground floor of the complex.
The Icon Park installation represents an expansion of Build-A-Bear’s existing footprint in the Florida market, replacing its previous retail model at the complex with a larger format.
“For nearly 30 years, Build-A-Bear has created memorable make-your-own experiences centered on connection, imagination and heart,” said Chris Hurt, CEO of Build-A-Bear Workshop.
He added that the Icon Park workshop is determined to offer a family-oriented destination where members can exchange unforgettable experiences beyond only visiting, representing the company’s ‘most ambitious experiences and mission’.
Build-A-Bear signed its first wholesale deal with Walmart in March, introducing a line of pre-stuffed plush toys and accessories designed for mass-market retail.
