Pre-loved fashion marketplace Vinted has launched in New York City, as part of its broader push into the US market.
Headquartered in Europe, the company is an online platform for buying and selling used clothing and accessories. Sellers pay no listing fees and keep 100 per cent of sales, while buyers can shop across a wide selection of basic and premium items.
Tapping from strong local demand, research conducted by Vinted and GWI revealed that more than half of New Yorkers (55 per cent) say they don’t have enough closet space, and one in five owns at least $500 worth of unworn clothing.
Adam Jay, CEO of Vinted Marketplace, said the company’s mission is to make second-hand the first choice.
“In Europe, we’ve spent years helping people make money from their unwanted items, and save money by buying second-hand instead of new,” he remarked.
“Now, we want to do the same in the US.”
Vinted operates a second-hand marketplace across more than 12 European markets and North America, with recent expansion into countries including Croatia, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, and Slovenia.
