Kroger has created a new e-commerce business unit to accelerate the growth of its online sales.
The company has appointed its current SVP and chief information officer Yael Cosset as EVP and chief digital officer of the new business unit, effective immediately.
Prior to joining Kroger, Sargent held leadership roles at 84.51, Dunnhumby, and Microstrategy.
“Accelerating Kroger’s e-commerce growth is a top priority,” said Ron Sargent, Kroger chairman and CEO.
“As the architect of Kroger’s digital strategy, Yael will continue to make it easier for customers to shop for our fresh, affordable food.”
Last year, Kroger’s e-commerce sales amounted to $13 billion.
Earlier this month, Kroger said its net income soared 23.2 per cent to $2.67 billion.
