Hermes has opened a new store at the historic Plaza del Lago shopping center on Chicago’s North Shore.

Designed by Paris-based architecture agency RDAI, the two-level boutique showcases the luxury house’s 16 métiers in a space inspired by the surrounding natural landscape while preserving the mall’s century-old Spanish Revival facade.

Inside, a honey-toned palette, dragonfly-inspired motifs, and agate-inspired finishes reflect the colors and textures of nearby Lake Michigan.

The ground floor houses silk, fashion jewelry, fragrances, home collections, and equestrian products, while a sculptural spiral staircase leads to the upper level, where men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, shoes, leather goods, jewelry, and watches are displayed.

The boutique also features works from the Émile Hermès Collection and the Hermès Collection of Contemporary Photographs, including Commuter Discourse by Chicago photographer Barbara Crane, photographed in 1978, alongside the Dress Code carre designed by American artist Daniel Clowes.

“We invite visitors to explore the house’s vivid and abundant creations within a harmonious, elegant narrative,” Hermès said.
