Kujten has opened its second New York boutique at 92 Greene Street in SoHo, following its debut in Madison Avenue last year.
Established in Paris in 2012 by childhood friends Carole Benaroya and Stephanie Eriksson, the brand specialises in luxury cashmere knitwear.
“When we opened our first shop on Madison Avenue last year, we’d been firmly warned about how hard it is for French brands to establish themselves in the United States,” Benaroya said. “But all the data was in our favour, so we went for it.”
Kujten is also preparing to open stores in Miami and Aspen by the end of the year, with each location expected to measure between 150 and 200 sqm.
Benaroya said the brand’s US business continues to gain momentum through around 50 luxury retail partners and its e-commerce channel. The US now accounts for 20 per cent of its online revenue.
“As virtually all brands take this approach, we are able to reaffirm our upper-premium positioning, it doesn’t impact our performance” she added.
