H-E-B plans to invest $700 million in improving its supply chain operations in what it says is its largest such investment yet.
The retailer has identified its Foster Road campus on San Antonio’s East Side as a potential site for the expansion, although plans have not yet been finalized.
Proposed facilities include a new bakery, refrigerated warehouse, transportation hub, and an expansion of the company’s existing manufacturing plant.
“We look forward to advancing our plans to grow our supply chain operations, a project that reaffirms our commitment to be an economic engine for our great state,” said Carson Landsgard, H-E-B chief supply chain officer.
“While we are still developing our plans, this will be a major investment for H-E-B that will create jobs and better position us to serve even more Texans.”
Construction could begin later this year, with the new facilities expected to become operational as early as 2028.
H-E-B is a privately held Texas-based supermarket chain headquartered in San Antonio.
Founded in 1905, it operates over 450 stores across Texas and Mexico. The company produces many of their own-brand products, including milk, ice cream, bread, snacks, and ready-cooked meats and meals.
