CVS is expanding its pet care services by allowing dog and cat owners to fill common pet prescriptions at CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide.
Available medications include antibiotics, flea and tick treatments, insulin, and pain relievers.
To purchase pet medicine, customers should present a written prescription from a veterinarian or ask them to send it directly to the pharmacy. Once validated, customers can pick up the medicine in-store or have it delivered.
Customers can also add their pets to their CVS.com account and manage eligible prescriptions through the CVS Health app.
CVS said it plans to introduce additional features, including electronic prescription capabilities, in the coming months.
Beyond prescription medications, the retailer has expanded its pet assortment through its Pet Central range, adding pet food, shampoos, grooming tools, and accessories.
The retailer has also added products from brands including Milk-Bone, Greenies, Churu, Savory Prime, and Temptations.
“With the addition of pet medication dispensing, CVS Pharmacy can now serve every member of the family,” said Sid Tenneti, senior VP and interim president of pharmacy and consumer wellness at CVS Health.
“Combined with our convenient locations, extended hours, and broad range of health and wellness products, we offer a true one-stop destination for care.”
