Healthcare retailing giant CVS has unveiled its new-look CVS Pharmacy model with the first of 20 openings taking place in Houston.

Found in the south of the city, CVS says the new format will “help bridge gaps” in pharmacy care, providing greater access to medication and other services.

The remaining CVS Pharmacy sites will roll out across select communities nationwide, averaging around 3000 sqft in size per location.

“Community pharmacists are often the most accessible healthcare professionals in the communities they serve,” said Sid Tenneti, interim president of pharmacy and consumer wellness, CVS Health.

“Our new pharmacy-focused locations optimize how we engage with communities by expanding access to trusted care, clinical expertise, and personalized support. We help people get the guidance, medications, and pharmacy care services they need where, when, and how they need it most.”

The company said the sites will join several other formats already in place, including CVS Pharmacy’s traditional full-service store.

“Access to local, timely health care matters – which is why, whether in-person, online, or a combination of the two, our community pharmacists provide trusted counsel and best-in-class service through consistent, personalized experiences that focus on helping patients become their healthiest,” Tenneti added.

“Our pharmacists live and work within the communities they serve, and because authentic connections are created through meaningful interactions, patients and customers trust their local pharmacy teams.”
