Restaurant giant The Cheesecake Factory is celebrating an “exceptional” third quarter of the fiscal year, with uplifts across the board outpacing the industry.

The operator of more than 370 restaurants delivered $1.03 billion in revenue over the 13-week period, resulting in profits of $61.3 million. Year-on-year, the two figures rose 13.9 per cent and 92.2 per cent, respectively.

The large profit boost came from a pre-tax net income of $12.9 million, related to the acquisition and incorporation of Fox Restaurant Concepts.

“We delivered an exceptional third quarter, generating record quarterly revenue, with margins and earnings also exceeding our expectations,” said David Overton, chairman and CEO.

“The Cheesecake Factory restaurants led our performance, with comparable sales and traffic meaningfully outperforming the broader casual dining industry. Continued menu innovation, our rewards program and significant engagement across social media contributed to the impressive sales growth, while year-over-year improvements in labor productivity and food efficiency supported strong profitability.”

The company opened six new restaurants during the quarter, two under its flagship brand. It told investors that it plans to open 20 new restaurants by the end of the financial year.

“The Cheesecake Factory has long enjoyed tremendous brand affinity across generations, and its ability to attract younger guests reinforces the enduring appeal and relevance of our namesake concept,” Overton added.

“These strengths reinforce our competitive position and give us confidence in our ability to deliver profitable growth and long-term shareholder value.”
