Buckle’s net income declines amid lower sales

Apparel retailer Buckle’s income declined amid lower revenue in the first quarter ended May 4.

Net income fell 18.8 per cent year over year to $34.8 million while sales plummeted 7.2 per cent to $262.5 million.

Comparable store net sales dipped 9 per cent while online sales slid 13.4 per cent to $44.4 million.

Last April, the company announced the appointment of Stacey M. Manary as VP of women’s merchandising.

As of May 9, Buckle operates 440 retail stores in 42 states.
