Comme des Garcons emporium I.T Beijing Market (I.TBM) has officially been renamed Dover Street Market Beijing (DSMB). It has also joined the international family of Dover Street Market (DSM). This not only enhances the long-term cooperation between I.T Group and Comme des Garcons Group, but also makes Beijing a global fashion metropolis following London, Tokyo, New York and Singapore, says DSM. “I.TBM’s business model has been a great success,” says Comme des Garcons CEO Adrian Joffee, who
is also international director of DSM. “Now we usher in a new stage, in which we seek a closer cooperation.”
I.T founder/chairman Sham Kar Wai says it is memorable to elevate the company’s collaboration to the DSM global family.
After the relaunch, I.T will still be responsible for routine business and DSM for overall creative planning and most interior design. Both parties will dedicate more effort to introducing original ideas from outstanding designers and artists through DSMB to Chinese consumers.
I.T and DSM jointly hosted a celebration party for more than 300 guests in Sanlitun Taikoo Li to reveal the new product series, in-store creative artwork display and visual installations in the four-floor store.
Electronic displays by menswear retailer/designer Gosha Rubchinskiy have been added to the first floor, while Avi Gold (Avi Friedman), known for pattern designs, has introduced the Better Hot Dog zone, where artistic derivatives are sold at “hot dog booths” full of street styles.
On the second floor, Belgian designer Marine Serre’s zone features metal shelves displaying her fashions, while Irish designer Simone Rocha presents the Doll Matrix echoing an English manor to display her similarly themed spring/summer collection. The Y project zone features garments twisted like flowers in vacuum bags.
On the third floor, the new Acne Studios zone has a cardboard box theme, inspired by the artworks of Andy Warhol.
A t-shirt gallery space on the next floor showcases exclusive Bape x DSMB series, a “Made in China” series by Feng Chen Wang and special Year of the Dog t-shirts designed by DSM and global designers.
As well as the new installations, DSMB also launched exclusive or debut items to celebrate the soft opening, including items from Bape, Comme des Garcons, DSM, DSMB, Feng Chen Wang and Nikelab.
Brands available at DSMB include Acne Studios, Alyx Celine, AMI, Bape, Comme des Garcons, Daniela Gregis, Dior Homme, Drkshdw, Facetasm, Fear of God, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Greg Lauren, Gucci, Jacquemus, Junya Watanabe, Juun.J, JW Anderson, Kolor, Loewe, Marine Serre, Molly Goddard, NikeLab, Nina Ricci, Noir Kei Ninomiya, Nona9on, Peaceminusone, Rick Owens, Roberts Wood, Saint Laurent, Simone Rocha, Stampd, Stella McCartney, Thom Browne, Tricot, Undercover, Valentino, Vetements, Xander Zhou, Xiao Li and Y/Project.
