Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo is ramping up its expansion plan in North America with more than 20 stores set to open in the US and Canada next year, doubling the current year’s store openings.
The company said the new stores will be mainly located in the eastern and western regions. About 10 stores are scheduled to open in Spring next year. The move is part of the brand’s strategy to reach 200 stores in the region by 2027.
“Stores are the heartbeat of our business, where we can engage with our local communities, hear directly from our customers, and best understand their needs to continue to improve and perfect our products,” said Daisuke Tsukagoshi, CEO of Uniqlo North America.
The company says its North America business reported “significant growth” for the fiscal year ending on August 31, and expects the strong results to continue next year.
“While accelerating the pace of new store openings, the company expects to achieve double-digit sales growth in its existing stores,” Uniqlo said in a statement.
Uniqlo will also open a Rome flagship store at the Galleria Alberto Sordi on Via del Corso next year.
Entering the US in 2005, the Fast Retailing-owned fashion brand currently operates 53 stores in the country, together with 19 stores in Canada. The brand has more than 2400 stores worldwide.
