Timberland opens first concept store in Japan

Timberland has launched its first concept store in Tokyo’s Daikanyama, expanding its retail footprint in Asia.

The store offers footwear, limited-edition items, and products created in collaboration with both domestic and international brands and artists, as well as the Japan-only premium line, Timberland +81 3.

“With the launch of the Timberland +81 3 collection and boutique opening, we will continue to honor Timberland’s legacy while boosting new energy to the brand,” said global president of Timberland, Susie Rubin Mulder.

Designed to capture the brand’s American style and culture of “work” and “outdoor”, from the Tokyo perspective, the space aims to recall the image of a construction site or a mountain hut.

The location offers a limited selection of products in addition to an art gallery called “Archive Wall”, which will display pieces that illustrate the brand’s history from the viewpoint of Tokyo artists. Customers can also personalise their Timberland apparel and use the cleaning services for their old boots on the second floor.

Plywood and building materials are used as design elements paying homage to Timberland’s heritage.

The American-Tokyo fused location is a partnership between fashion director, Akio Hasegawa, and the design firm Daikei Mills.
