Luxury fashion label Thom Browne has named Sam Lobban as its new CEO, effective September 2, as Rodrigo Bazan is stepping down to “pursue other opportunities”.
Lobban is currently executive VP and GM for apparel and designer at Nordstrom. He began his career at Selfridges in London and later joined Mr Porter as part of its founding team.
“His deep understanding of our brand’s distinctive DNA and his visionary approach make him the ideal partner to help shape the future of our brand”, commented Thom Browne, the brand’s founder and chief creative officer.
Bazan has led the Thom Browne brand since 2016. Before joining the company, he was president at Alexander Wang.
“After thoughtful consideration, I’ve decided to step down to focus on new opportunities, but I’ll always remain connected and supportive of the brand’s future,” he said.
“Under Rodrigo’s leadership, Thom Browne’s revenues have nearly tripled since our acquisition of the brand. We thank him for laying the foundation for future growth,” added Gildo Zegna, chairman and CEO of parent company Ermenegildo Zegna Group.
Bazan’s departure comes as Ermenegildo Zegna reported a 3 per cent revenue decline to EUR927.7 million ($1.05 billion) for the fiscal first half, with Thom Browne sales down 22.4 per cent amid poor wholesale performance.
