Starbucks has launched a new incentive rewards program to recognize the contributions of its hourly coffeehouse partners, as part of its ‘Back to Starbucks’ transformation.
Under the program, baristas and shift supervisors can earn up to $1200 per year ($300 per quarter) if store sales targets are met or exceeded. Starbucks says it reflects its commitment to offering partners more ways to earn through performance-based bonuses and a more competitive compensation and benefits package.
According to the company, eligible partners may also receive a 5–8 per cent increase in tips across more ordering and payment channels, including through Mobile Order & Pay and Scan & Pay at the register.
Starbucks also said it would switch to weekly pay for all US store staff, providing faster access to earnings.
Hourly partners at the coffeehouse have been receiving total pay and benefits valued at over $30 per hour, from comprehensive healthcare to stock awards. Through its Back to Starbucks campaign, the company has invested over $500 million in additional hours and staffing during peak shifts, which it says has delivered significant results and an improved customer experience.
This new program, designed to better align incentives with metrics that drive growth and further strengthen Starbucks’ long-term transformation, will roll out across US coffeehouses starting in July.
In addition to the launch, Starbucks will expand leadership opportunities within the coffeehouse by introducing new positions across US locations, complementing the previously announced coffeehouse coach role to ensure smooth operations.
Last month, the company said that it had restructured its licensed coffeehouse business in the US, shifting towards a segment-focused approach.
