Krispy Kreme is expanding into Brazil with the opening of its first store in Sao Paulo late next month.
The company will launch the store in the Avenida Juscelino Kubitschek neighborhood through a minority interest joint venture with convenience store chain AMPM.
“Our partnership with AMPM is a key step in the expansion of our capital-light international franchise model, enabling us to bring fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts to more markets and consumers around the world,” said president-international Raphael Duvivier.
“By leveraging AMPM’s extensive convenience store chain to solidify our footprint in Brazil, we will scale more efficiently while staying focused on sustainable and profitable growth.”
The company expects the new store to generate approximately 100 direct jobs, with plans to create more positions as it expands in the country.
Part of Ipiranga’s mobility ecosystem, AMPM has approximately 1500 retail locations across all regions of Brazil.
