Hawaii-based restaurant franchise L&L Hawaiian Barbecue opened five additional sites in the fourth quarter of last year – and says it plans to add another 20 locations this year.
The locations are in Henderson, NV; Denver, CO; Arlington, TX; Tucson, AZ and Waikoloa Village, HI.
The Texas location is also the brand’s first standalone drive-through site.
Last year marked the company’s highest growth rate to date, with 18 sites opening. Each of the five new eateries is owned and operated by independent owner-operators under a franchise agreement.
L&L Dairy, founded in Honolulu in 1952, was purchased in 1976 by Eddie Flores, Jr and Johnson Kam, both Chinese immigrants. The co-founders relaunched the company as L&L Hawaiian Barbecue after introducing the L&L brand of Hawaiian plate lunches to the continental US in 1999.
L&L Hawaiian Barbecue now has 228 locations throughout the US and Japan.
