Casual sandwich chain Jersey Mike’s Subs has appointed Charlie Morrison as its new CEO, effective April 28, succeeding Peter Cancro, who will remain chairman of the board.
Morrison brings more than 30 years of senior leadership experience across renowned franchises, including Steak’ n Shake, Pizza Hut, Salad and Go, Pizza Inn, and Boston Market.
Under his leadership at Wingstop from 2012 to 2022, Morrison expanded the brand to thousands of locations in more than 10 countries, contributing to its successful initial public offering.
“Having led Wingstop through a monumental period of growth and a successful IPO, he knows what it takes to lead a first-of-its-kind, category-defining brand, and I am confident he will bring that same energy and vision to Jersey Mike’s,” said Canro.
Assuming the role of CEO at Jersey Mike’s, he will continue to accelerate the brand’s presence in the US and international markets, along with its ongoing implementation of technology and digital transformation in operations, which was initiated in partnership with Blackstone last year.
“Charlie is a titan in the franchised restaurant space, with a proven value creation playbook for driving growth at leading brands – both through restaurants and digital channels,” said Nigel Travis, lead director of Jersey Mike’s.
