Japanese matcha cafe Nana’s Green Tea is set to open its first company-operated flagship store in the US, in Pasadena, California.
The brand – often referred to as “Japan’s Starbucks’ – previously entered the market through franchise locations in Seattle and New York.
Nana’s Green Tea is known for offering authentic Japanese matcha at accessible price points. Its menu features matcha lattes, parfaits, and savory meals inspired by Japanese cafe culture.
The Pasadena flagship is centred around the Japanese concept of ‘wabi-sabi’, emphasizing simplicity and restraint. Its interiors and menu are described to reflect traditional Japanese culture through a minimalist approach.
One of the cafe’s key offerings is Uji tea sourced from Yamamasa Koyamaen, a Kyoto-based tea producer with more than 160 years of history.
“Through Nana’s Green Tea, we aim to bring a new, modern expression of Japanese culture into everyday life around the world,” said Kazuto Kutami, founder and CEO.
“At the heart of what we do is a commitment to authentic ingredients, Japanese producers, and the spirit of omotenashi.”
