French multinational coffee shop chain Columbus Cafe & Co has opened a flagship in Toronto at 283 Adelaide West, expanding its retail base in Canada.

In addition to the launch, the French cafe chain is collaborating with Indigo Books & Music to deliver its Parisian cafe experience to 11 Indigo and Chapters locations in Ontario and Quebec, with six cafes set to launch this year.

The flagship Toronto cafe is the brand’s first Ontario outlet, joining eleven other locations in Quebec. According to Nicolas Riche, CEO of Wagram Finances, Canada is an important market with significant growth potential.

“We opened our first branch in Montreal in 2020, with the aim of establishing ourselves first in Quebec and following suit nationwide,” he said.

Founded in 1994, Columbus Cafe & Co was France’s first coffee shop franchise and now operates 250 stores across France, Canada, Belgium, Luxembourg, French Polynesia, and Bahrain.
