Department store chain JCPenney has partnered with disabled writer and athlete Jamey Perry to launch an adaptive apparel collection made for women who use wheelchairs.
The collection is designed to reduce common issues, including well-placed zippers for easy access, better pocket positioning for a seated person; extended back rises; shorter sleeves; and waistband loops.
Perry shared that despite having a disability, women like her still want to look and feel great – but need clothing that suits their needs.
“Creating this line with JCPenney has been a dream come true,” said Perry. “Although I’m new to the design world, the JCPenney team understood that my lived experience lent a unique perspective when creating this collection.”
Available in women’s sizes XS-XXL, the collection includes 18 different styles, such as blazers, dress slacks, blouses and cocktail outfits.
