Chipotle Mexican Grill’s net income rose amid higher revenue last year amid the opening of 304 new company-owned restaurants and three internationally licensed restaurants.

The company’s net income rose 17.6 per cent to $331.8 million as revenue rose 13.1 per cent to $2.85 billion.

Food and beverage revenue climbed 13.2 per cent to $2.83 billion, while delivery service revenue fell 8.5 per cent to $15.3 million.

“I want to make sure that as we continue to scale Chipotle, everything we do is in service of our guests or those who serve our guests, which will enable us to achieve our long-term ambitious goals of reaching 7000 restaurants in North America, growing our AUVs beyond $4 million, expanding margins and making progress toward becoming a global iconic brand,” said Scott Boatwright, Chipotle CEO.

For the current year, the company expects low- to mid-single-digit comparable sales growth.

It also anticipates opening 315 to 345 company-owned restaurants, with over 80 per cent featuring a Chipotlane.

Last November, Chipotle named Scott Boatwright as CEO and board member.
