Caleres has named Brian Costello as president of the company’s Famous Footwear division, effective immediately, and reporting to Jay Schmidt, president and CEO.

Before taking on this role, Costello assumed the position of chief merchandising officer in February, in which he oversaw Caleres’ athletic and fashion footwear and accessories across US and Canadian stores and e-commerce sites.

With 30 years of experience in the fashion retail industry, he held leadership positions at Macy’s and Nordstrom, where he oversaw the women’s footwear business.

During his tenure at NordstromRack, Costello led all footwear categories and women’s accessories as its vice president and divisional merchandise manager.

“His merchandising and planning expertise, strong market relationships and leadership have been invaluable as we continue to position Famous Footwear for growth as the leader in family footwear,” said  Jay Schmidt, Caleres’ president and CEO.

Earlier, Caleres acquired the Stuart Weizman brand from Tapestry for $105 million cash transaction.
