Amazon has rolled out a 30-minute delivery service, ‘Amazon Now’, for fresh groceries and essentials across five states.

The service is currently active for customers in several US cities, including Atlanta, Dallas–Fort Worth, Philadelphia, and Seattle.

The company says it intends to expand the program to reach tens of millions of users by the end of this year.

The inventory available for the 30-minute window includes fresh produce, dairy, meat, electronics, and personal care items.

Amazon is utilizing a network of smaller fulfillment centers located in high-density areas near residential and commercial hubs.

The launch follows a reported increase in the company’s delivery times. Last year, Amazon reported delivering more than 8 billion items to US customers.

Earlier, Amazon said its pharmacy will stock Novo Nordisk’s Ozempic pill to treat type 2 diabetes at its kiosks and offer same-day delivery of the drug.
