Alimentation Couche‑Tard has launched the sale of up to 35 Circle K stores across 14 US states, as part of a strategy to streamline its operations and focus on higher-performing locations.
NRC Realty & Capital Advisors, which is managing the sale, reported that the portfolio comprises 19 company-owned and 16 leased stores. Of these, 22 sell both fuel and convenience items.
The stores are located in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
According to sources, Couche‑Tard stated that these stores no longer align with the company’s brand and market strategy.
The announcement coincides with the release of Couche‑Tard’s Q1 FY2026 earnings, which showed a net profit of US$782.5 million, slightly down from US$790.8 million a year earlier. The company currently operates over 7300 stores in the US, making it one of the largest independent convenience store operators in the country.
In July, Couche‑Tard withdrew its US$47 billion takeover bid for Seven & I Holdings, citing a lack of constructive engagement from the Japanese retailer. Last year, the company acquired 270 GetGo Cafe + Market locations from supermarket chain Giant Eagle.
