Yum Brands has promoted Scott Mezvinsky to KFC division CEO, effective March 1, succeeding Sabir Sami.

Currently president of Taco Bell North America and International, Mezvinsky was previously Taco Bell’s global chief strategy and financial officer.

Mezvinsky’s career at Yum Brands began in 2004, and he has held various roles in the company, including GM of KFC Iberia and chief development officer, and VP of development and operations in the KFC Latin America and Caribbean market.

“There aren’t many brands that are as well loved and well known as KFC, and I am very excited to play a role in continuing to strengthen and accelerate the growth of this legendary brand in virtually every corner of the world,” said Mezvinsky.

Earlier this month, Yum Brands said it discontinued franchise agreements with franchisee IS Gida, which owns and operates all KFC and Pizza Hut stores in Turkey and is a part of IS Holding.
