Walmart is expanding its e-commerce platform into Mexico, giving shoppers access to its product assortment, from apparel to electronics, through Walmart.com.

Manish Joneja, SVP for Walmart Marketplace, says Mexico is just the first of many countries to experience Walmart.com as part of its plans to expand the platform worldwide.

“We’re focused on making it easy for customers to access an expanded assortment of products,” said Joneja.

“This is a milestone in the evolution of how people access our marketplace.”

Orders placed through Walmart.com will be delivered using the retailer’s existing US fulfillment network, while international shipping and customs clearance will be managed by third-party carriers.

Customers will see estimated taxes, duties and fees at checkout, providing full visibility into the total cost before completing a purchase.

Walmart said it plans to expand international shipping into additional markets.
