Toymaker Melissa & Doug opens its first retail store after 35 years

Wooden and sustainable toy brand Melissa & Doug is marking its 35th anniversary with the opening of its first ever physical retail store.

The store takes over a 1600sqft space inside the New York City shopping center, the Westchester. It will open on October 6.

The new store will be home to the brand’s top-selling toys and new products including pretend play sets, learning toys, baby and toddler products, puzzles, and arts and crafts.

The store is designed to provide customers an experience of the attention to detail, quality, and play value Melissa & Doug instill in its toys.

“We’re always looking for new ways to share our important purpose and quality toys with consumers, especially during the gifting season,” said Fernando Merce, CEO of Melissa & Doug.

“We’re thrilled to open our first-ever retail store where consumers can discover and shop a curated selection of open-ended, screen-free toys for their little ones.”

As part of its 35th anniversary celebrations, the store will also offer Rainbow Giraffe, a limited-edition version of its renowned four-foot giraffe plush toy.

There will be a spot for kids to measure how many “scoops of ice cream” tall they are along with other exclusive take-home activities.
